Military Clocks & Timepieces

[premiumslider id=”6″ center=”true”]
Apart from the wrist watches issued to military personnel, mechanical timepieces were vital items of equipment that could be seen at an RAF or Luftwaffe airfield, inside a tank, truck, aircraft, ship or submarine.

Pre and early WW2 clocks and timepieces can sometimes be recognised by the high quality of internal and external finishing. While later war items will definitely appear more quickly made, but this would not have had implications on the actual accuracy of the item.

Within Europe,  Switzerland was a producer of a large number of military watches and military clocks for not only Britain, but also Germany.  This did cause a great deal of political and military debate, as precision mechanical parts could also be used in munitions.
